The Shimano Alivio bottom bracket is one piece and is made of cold forged chrome-molybdenum: it reduces weight and increases strength and rigidity. The contact surface between the rod and arm of the connecting rod is grooved, which results in a more solid fit in comparison with the square shafts. It has sealed cartridge assembly with oversized bearings: the rubber seal does not require maintenance and keeps the bottom bracket free of dirt, mud and water. Its design allows a simple installation without the need for subsequent adjustments.
